Photocatalytic degradation of drugs in water mediated by acetylated riboflavin and visible light: A mechanistic study

چکیده

There is a current concern, among the scientific community, on pollutants classified as “persistent organic (POPs)”. Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) belong to this family of contaminants; therefore, it necessary find more efficient techniques able achieve their removal from environment. This study focuses two different pharmaceuticals: carbamazepine atenolol, chosen for widespread use chemical medical properties. In work, an dye, acetylated riboflavin, has been used in combination with visible light photodegradation these POPs <2 h. Moreover, photophysical experiments demonstrated involvement singlet triplet excited states riboflavin generated oxygen drugs. Besides, detailed UFLC-MS-MS analysis photoproducts confirmed oxidation Finally, plausible mechanism postulated.
